Ayurveda, recognized for its vast repository of medicinal knowledge, consistently promotes the exploration of new drugs and the identification of new pharmacological properties from indigenous sources. Folk medicine, which has been utilized since ancient times, contributes valuable medicinal plants to this wealth of knowledge. Studying folk drugs and documenting their actions holds profound significance in the field of medicine and pharmacology. Tabernaemontana heyneana (Wall.), belonging to Apocynaceae family is one such Extrapharmacopoeial plant distributed in Konkan and Western ghats. Objective: Drug review along with Pharmocognistic and Preliminary phytochemical analysis of stem bark of Tabernaemontana heyneana (Wall.) Methodology: Review of detailed literature of the drug, Macroscopy, Microscopy and physicochemical analysis of the stem bark. Results and Conclusion: The Transverse Section of stem bark of Tabernaemontana heyneana (Wall.) showed an outermost layer cork followed by sclerenchymatous band, cortex consisting of parenchyma, groups of stone cells and sclereids. Phloem occupies major portion of the bark which is extended comprising of Phloem fibres, phloem parenchyma and alternatively running medullary rays. The Loss on drying is 15.83 %, Total Ash value is 5.31±2.07%, Acid insoluble ash is 0.95%, Water soluble ash is 5.09 %, Alcohol soluble extractive value is 7.99±0.1% and Water-soluble extractive value is 25.05±0.07%. The phytochemical screening of stem bark of Tabernaemontana heyneana (Wall.) showed the presence of alkaloids, steroids, carbohydrates, Flavonoids, Coumarins and Carboxylic acid.
