Title

Comparative Analysis of India and the United States' Foreign Policies: In the Context of Neighboring Countries

Authors

Abstract

A comparative analysis of the foreign policies of India and the United States highlights several significant aspects, particularly in the context of their relationships with neighboring countries. India’s foreign policy is primarily centered on establishing peaceful and cooperative relations with its neighbors. This includes fostering economic and political ties with SAARC nations, resolving border disputes, and ensuring regional stability. India’s approach reflects a balance between military and diplomatic strategies, particularly in relation to concerns involving countries such as China and Pakistan. In contrast, the United States’ foreign policy is driven by its objective of maintaining its global leadership and power status. Its border security policies, particularly through agreements like the USMCA (formerly NAFTA), are designed to safeguard the economic and political interests of North America. Furthermore, U.S. foreign policy focuses on countering China's rising influence and enhancing international cooperation across various sectors. Both nations’ foreign policies involve complex dynamics with their neighboring countries. India’s priorities lie in safeguarding its regional integrity and fostering harmonious relations with its neighbors, whereas the United States is focused on maintaining the global power balance and advancing its strategic interests on the international stage.
