Ayurveda focuses on both preventing and treating diseases, especially in children, who are a vulnerable group and require special care. Kasa, which refers to a type of cough, is one of the most common respiratory issues among children and is linked to the Pranavaha Srotas (the respiratory system) in Ayurveda. Childhood is a Kapha-dominant phase, making children more prone to Kapha-related disorders like Kaphaja Kasa, a form of cough that produces thick, sticky mucus. Kaphaja Kasa shares similarities with chronic bronchitis, particularly due to symptoms like a cough lasting over two weeks, which is a key diagnostic criterion for chronic bronchitis in pediatric practice. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Kantakari (Solanum xanthocarpum)—as a cost-effective and accessible treatment for Kaphaja Kasa.
