Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) has been a safe motherhood intervention under National Health Mission (NHM). It ensures quality maternal care during pregnancy, delivery and in the immediate post- delivery. A systematic review was carried out to assess the status of research on awareness and knowledge of Janani Suraksha Yojana among pregnant women in selected areas of Aligarh. The adopted methodology was based on the guidelines of the PRISMA framework. The present status of work was revealed from a search engine, Google scholar and Scopus data base. Research articles published in English language during period of 2005-2024 were considered for review. Total seventeen studies were selected for review. Most of the studies were cross-sectional and targeted women of reproductive age. No work has been carried out regarding the role of ASHA workers in the implementation and performance of the JSY, effectiveness and the popularity of the means of information (TV, Radio, Friends, Family) was ignored, different components and barriers in access and utilization of JSY benefits has not been worked out in detail. Hence, it is necessary to address the mentioned parameters to improve and strengthening the JSY scheme which helps in reducing rate of maternal and infant death due to unsafe delivery.
