Title

Artificial Intelligence in Humanitarian Activities: Navigating Ethical Complexities of Disaster Response

Abstract

Humanitarian activities and disaster response are transformed when they are infused with artificial intelligence. AI technologies provide capacities for data analysis, resource allocation, and decision-making that are unprecedented. However, the use of AI creates significant ethical complexities, some of which are essentially centered on privacy-related issues, algorithmic bias, accountability, and possibilities of misuse. This paper provides extensive exploration of these ethical implications, examining challenges and proffering frameworks for the responsible deployment of AI. The paper undertakes a review of recent case studies and sets of guidelines on ethics, driven towards deepening one's view of the guiding moral considerations on the use of AI systems in disaster response.
