Acute disease can be self-limiting, some may depart on their own and tend to produce serious conditions. The illness manifests suddenly, lasts for a short duration and the severity of the disease requires urgent care. They can range from minor injuries, bacterial or viral infections, and exacerbation of chronic existing disease conditions. The ailment factors are the triggering factor for most of the acute diseases. The aim of the study is to ascertain whether centesimal potency is effective in the treatment of acute illnesses. 60 cases were collected from the outpatient and rural health centres of Sarada Krishna Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital. The cases belonged to different classifications of acute diseases. The cases were analysed and repertorised based on the acute totality and were prescribed homoeopathic medicines in centesimal potencies. The patients’ before and after treatment scores were assessed using the Physician Global Assessment Scale. The cases were statistically analysed using paired t test. All 60 cases showed marked improvement after medication in the Physician Global Assessment. The most frequently used potency was 200th and centesimal potency has shown more effectiveness in acute individual diseases and has shown statistical significance using paired t test (< 0.05). This study depicts the hidden treasures of the effectiveness of centesimal potency in the treatment of acute diseases.
