ABSTRACT Background: Vata gulma is a disease that occurs in mahasrotas due to vitiation of vata. It is characterized by sthana samsthana ruja vikalpa, that is varying of site, symptoms and pain. Acharyas have specified about amurta pindakriti of vata gulma. In modern science on the basis of vikalpata of vata gulma, we can correlate with Phantom tumor. A phantom tumour" is a swelling, produced by irregular muscular contraction. It is apt to appear and disappear suddenly, hence the name. Materials and Methods: A total of 40 subjects were selected from OPD and IPD of Department of Kayachikitsa, BLDEA’S AVS Ayurveda Mahavidhyalaya and Hospital Vijayapura after fulfilling inclusion and exclusion criteria. They were randomly divided into 2 groups of 20 each, Group A (Vaishwanara Churna) and Group B (Hingu Panchaka Churna). Assessment of results was done by considering the base line data of subjective parameters; before, during and after treatment. Results: Both Vaishwanara churna and Hingu panchaka churna have significant results in all subjective parameters of Vata gulma. On comparing both the group statistically, there is significant difference between the results of both Group A and Group B such as Admana, Uchwasa uparodha, Vid sangha and Avipaka. Conclusion: In the present study, more importance given to subjective parameters than objectives. Because we can’t find any visible pathology in the vata gulma disease. The preparation of Vaishwanara churna and Hingu panchaka churna are simple, palatable, easy for administration, free from side effects and good therapeutic efficacy. On comparing between two groups, group B has shown significant result than group A.
