Title

Integrating Indian Knowledge Systems in Modern Pedagogy: A Holistic Approach

Abstract

The Indian Knowledge System (IKS) is a repository of ancient wisdom and scientific concepts that has been transmitted through generations. It includes all of the disciplines of knowledge that have been developed to a high level of sophistication in India since ancient times, as well as all of the customs and practices that the country's many communities, including its tribal communities, have developed, perfected, and maintained over the course of many generations. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 incorporates IKS as an integral part and emphasizes embedding it across various educational levels to instill pride in India's legacy while fostering critical thinking and innovation. As the introduction of NEP-2020 redefines the country's teaching and learning process, it becomes essential to explore the integration of the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) into modern educational frameworks. Thus the paper seeks to analyze pedagogical methods, discuss the benefits of incorporating IKS, and provide insights into its role in bridging traditional wisdom with contemporary education for a more comprehensive and culturally relevant learning experience.
