The study of Sacred Groves were carried out from kotling, which is located in Dongarwadi of Walava taluka in Sangli district. This consists of large hillocks and a valley with small elevations around it. There is no temple. The deity is lord Shivling is in cave of rock. The raea of Kotling Sacred Groove is about about 50 acres having scrubby tropical forest. These Sacred groves are protected by local community through social traditions and taboos that incorporate spiritual and ecological values. These groves harbors many rare species of the plants and animals and rich in biodiversity. It consists of hilly area with most of the part is of rocky with herbs, shrubs and ground vegetation covered with grasses. The villagers perform annual rituals and ceremonies to appease the presiding deities and to ensure the well-being of the community. During the study area from Kotling Sacred Grove we reported 46 species of plants from 34 families and 40 genera. It forms typical plant diversity within these sacred groves.
