Title

Efficacy Evaluation of Microparticulate Drug Delivery System of Imperatorin in Rats

Abstract

This study has been undertaken to investigate the determinants of Imperatorin micro-crystals were obtained from ethyl acetate extract of the fruit part of the medicinal plant Agle marmelos (L) Correa. FT-IR confirmed the presence of relevant functional groups present in the system. UV–Vis spectroscopy showed absorption bands at 251 nm. Thermal analysis (DSC) showed the absence of any type of moisture in the system. Thermal stability (no decomposition up to melting point) was also confirmed from the DSC data, which predicts the suitability of the material for application. The ratio of drug: polymer was varied in the microsponges preparation and then the microsponges were evaluated for morphological study. Micro-sponge based novel patches for TDD has been proposed in the present study for hypertension management. ICM loaded patches were successfully fabricated employing PVP, EC, and Eudragit RS 100. The patches were efficiently characterized and in-vitro drug release was determined. Present study concluded that the equal ratio of PVP and EC with 10% of Eudragit RS 100 of F4 gradually release the active, providing sustained release over time.
