Facial recognition technology (FRT) plays an essential role in modern criminal identification processes. Leveraging biometric analysis, FRT allows law enforcement to efficiently and accurately identify individuals based on unique facial features. This paper explores recent advancements in FRT, its application in criminal investigations, and the challenges associated with its implementation, including privacy and ethical considerations. By surveying multiple research works, we aim to provide a comprehensive view of FRT’s role in criminal justice and propose future directions for improving its effectiveness and societal impact. The criminal identification system using video analytics process is a cornerstone of modern law enforcement and security. It plays a vital role in ensuring public safety, maintaining law and order, and helping authorities identify suspects accurately. Traditional identification methods rely on fingerprint analysis, photographic identification, and eyewitness testimony, which often suffer from various limitations, such as time consumption and human error.
