Being a patriarchal society, Indian society is highly rooted in its own cultural and historical aspirations in terms of socio-political, economic and administrative distinction of mobility, standards of positions, and representation in decision-making. The role of women as a community is crucial in boosting the strength of national position and fostering social and cultural capital. However, the role of women has been confined in a very narrow sense by the society at large and the patriarchal mindset in particular. This paper critically focuses on the issues that are deterring women's engagement and upright mobility in the form of stereotypes, prejudices, assumptions, and societal considerations which are often percolated in the lack of women's participation in decision-making. The paper examines and constitutes the arguments based on secondary sources such as published journals, government reports, authoritative mandate committee reports and some research papers on this segmented topic.
