Banking system in India is as old as its civilization. After Independence, India of Government feel the need for creation of financial institutions to support Rural socio-economic development. The Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) were set up in 1975 as the farmer bank. These banks were structured to function as rural financial institutions with low cost profile and rural so as to establish themselves as additional support to ongoing efforts of development of rural areas through capital information. RRBs played satisfactory role in rural development
