Title

Evaluation of workability and Mechanical Properties of Steel and Polypropylene Fiber Reinforced Self-Compacting Concrete(scc)

Abstract

This study explores the use of Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC), a type of concrete that flows under its own weight without segregation and maintains homogeneity, eliminating the need for vibration during placement. The research focuses on incorporating fibers, specifically crimped steel fibers and polypropylene fibers, in various proportions (0.25%, 0.50%, 0.75%, and 1%) as partial replacements for cement. The water-cement ratio is set at 0.43. To evaluate the impact of fiber inclusion on strength properties, a total of 54 concrete cubes (150x150x150 mm) were cast and tested for compressive strength after 7 and 28 days of curing. Additionally, 27 concrete cylinders (300 mm height and 150 mm diameter) were cast and tested for split tensile strength after 28 days of curing. Flexural strength was assessed using 27 concrete beams (100x100x500 mm), also after 28 days of curing. The study aims to investigate the influence of fiber reinforcement on the mechanical properties of SCC at specific curing intervals. The results indicate positive outcomes, suggesting that this combination of fibers improves strength.
