Astaxanthin is a red-orange pigment classified as a carotenoid, often referred to as the "King of Antioxidants." it may help prevent diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, brain disorders, It protects our skin from UV rays and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation, while also assisting in the restoration of UV-induced DNA damage. This pigment is derived from natural sources such as yeast, microalgae, and various marine species, including shrimp, salmon, trout, krill, and crayfish. This review paper highlights the formulation of sunscreen made from shrimp shell. The growing demand for eco-friendly and sustainable cosmetic products has sparked interest in repurposing by-products from the seafood industry. This highlights the potential for utilizing marine waste in cosmetic applications, promoting sustainability while meeting consumer demand for natural and effective sun protection solutions.
