The role of moral philosophy in politics has been a fundamental area of inquiry for scholars throughout history, providing insights into how ethics and governance intertwine. The relationship between moral philosophy and politics has been explored in diverse ways across different cultural traditions. In Western thought, moral philosophy has been used to advocate for individual rights, justice, and equality, while Eastern philosophies have tended to emphasize social harmony, collective welfare, and the moral integrity of rulers. This paper aims to compare and contrast the role of moral philosophy in politics within Western and Eastern traditions, exploring the works of key thinkers such as Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Rawls, Confucius, and others. Through this comparison, we can gain a deeper understanding of how both traditions envision the moral foundations of political systems.
