Title

Design analysis and prototype 3D Model of ABS bevel gear using FDM process

Abstract

Bevel gears are power transmission Elements. Bevel gears transmit power from one shaft to another oriented at an angle of ninety degrees. Manufacturing of bevel gears is time consuming and costly. Fabrication of ABS bevel gears on 3D printer using fused deposition modelling (FDM) process is faster and cheaper. ABS materials are widely used in industries due to light weight and Impact resistance. In this paper 3D model is created using CATIA and deformation and stress analysis is conducted by varying loads on ABS bevel gear and results obtained were minimum for deformation, stress and strain in Solid works simulation. 3D model of ABS bevel gear is exported to cura software where the model is sliced into layers and saved with the file extension .STL format on 3D printer. Fabrication of ABS bevel gear on the 3D printer is build layer by layer.
