The study investigated the impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), human capital, energy, transport, and structural changes on the Productive Capacity Index (PCI) in BRICS nations from 2001 to 2023. Utilizing a panel data approach, the study employed both Fixed Effect (FE) and Random Effect (RE) regression models, with data sourced from the UNCTAD Data Centre. Diagnostic tests address issues such as heteroskedasticity, cross-sectional dependence, and autocorrelation, confirming the appropriateness of the FE model. The results reveal that ICT, human capital, energy, transport, and structural changes significantly influence the PCI across BRICS nations, with all variables except the intercept demonstrating strong positive effects. The Hausman test confirms the superiority of the FE model, which explains 99.38 per cent of within-group variance. Notably, the robust clustered FE model refines coefficient estimates, addressing heteroskedasticity and enhancing reliability. Key findings highlighted a substantial decline in export growth during 2015, attributed to global economic slowdowns, currency volatility, and falling commodity prices. These factors underscore the importance of strategic investments in ICT and human capital to bolster productive capacities.
