Title

The training of science teachers: a lever for performance and productivity

Abstract

The main objective of this article is to propose modules for the training of science teachers in order to develop their "skills". While it is true that science teaching and lessons are not intended for the teacher but rather for the pupils, it would be useful to question whether this teaching and these courses manage to meet the aspirations of the latter and awaken their curiosity and their thirst and motivation to know it, to meet the requirements and objectives set for the education system. However, the teacher-student relationship denotes dysfunctions that negatively affect the quality of learning and the student's "relationship" with the discipline taught. Improving and redefining these links could play a decisive role in the process of quality teaching and thus enable the desired objectives to be achieved. Our concern is how to make education an adequate and coherent teaching-learning system that makes it possible to meet these challenges and to make science education a lever for the development of science, in the face of a insufficient human, material and organizational resources. Any action in this perspective should include, among other things, adequate training for teachers and “promotion” of their profession: in addition to technical training specific to the profession; integrate modules capable of developing the intellectual and behavioral development of teachers; innovative modules allowing teachers to improve their human qualities and their skills as well as their skills; capable of making the teacher a responsible executive capable of managing conflicts, resolving them and creating an atmosphere and attractive conditions for the smooth running and success of their actions.
