The present study was intended to assess the awareness regarding patient safety guidelines among staff nurses in a selected tertiary care hospital Trivandrum. The objectives of the study were assess the awareness regarding patient safety guidelines among staff nurses and to find the association between awareness regarding patent safety guidelines among staff nurses with selected socio demographic variables. Methodology: the research approach adopted was quantitative research approach. The study was conducted among 200 staff nurses of Sree Gokulam Medical College Venjaramoodu who were satisfying the inclusion criteria. The tool used in the study consist of socio demographic data and questionnaire to assess the awareness regarding patient safety among staff nurses. After obtaining consent from registered nurses, structured knowledge questionnaire was given to samples. The data thus collected were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The study findings revealed that majority 54% of staff nurses had satisfactory awareness, 43% had good awareness and 3% had poor awareness regarding patient safety guidelines. There was significant association between awareness regarding patient safety guidelines with area of working. Based on the study findings researcher recommended provision of periodic In service education regarding patent safety guidelines among staff nurses helps to gain awareness about the safe practices.
