Disinfectants are complex chemical mixtures designed to kill certain bacteria and serve as cleaning agents, removing dirt, dust, stains, odors, and grime from surfaces. However, many commercially available disinfectants contain powerful chemicals that, with prolonged exposure, can cause a range of health issues, from skin irritation and allergies to more serious conditions such as cancer and bronchial asthma. Disinfectants containing phenols can damage the circulatory and respiratory systems, while those with petroleum solvents can harm mucosal membranes. In contrast, traditional medicinal plants such as Azadirachta indica (neem), Sapindus (reetha), Cymbopogon (lemongrass), and camphor have long been used for their antimicrobial and insecticidal properties. To harness these benefits, a polyherbal formulation was created by combining these natural ingredients to develop an effective bio-disinfectant. Just a few drops of this product, mixed with water, can serve as a powerful and safe floor disinfectant, offering a healthier alternative to harmful chemical cleaners. It is especially safe for children, particularly toddlers who often crawl and play on the floor. This eco-friendly, affordable formulation is free from synthetic preservatives, making it a safer and more sustainable choice for home cleaning.
