Even though society emphasizes women empowerment, many women continue to face suppression through patriarchal ideologies. Marriage, in particular, is still perceived as a defining milestone in a woman's life. Anita Nair’s novel Ladies Coupe explores the struggles and challenges encountered by women, revealing the complex interplay between gender roles and societal expectations. The narrative focuses on the lives of six women, including the protagonist Akhila, each facing different personal and social issues. Through their stories, the novel highlights how women navigate societal pressures, rediscover their freedom, and develop a sense of individuality. The characters confront the emotional and psychological consequences of patriarchal values and challenge the traditional notion that a woman’s fulfilment lies solely in marriage and family life. The novel also explores the impact of socio-economic factors on women's lives and choices. Ladies Coupe offers a nuanced portrayal of women’s journeys toward self-empowerment, providing insights into the importance of reclaiming one’s identity in a society dominated by patriarchal norms. This article mainly focus on the theme of female empowerment and their individuality in Patriarchal society, focusing mainly on women’s struggles to reclaim their autonomy and redefine their life beyond societal expectation.
