This study explores "revenge tourism," a case of pent-up demand following the pandemic that sparked a surge in travel activity across the US. Using financial data from 2019 to 2024 the paper analyses the impact of revenge tourism on the hospitality, aviation and online travel sectors and how these sectors adapted to the changing trends. Leisure travel initially grew quickly after travel restrictions eased, but the recovery was not even as business travel increased at a much slower pace. The paper points out the challenges and opportunities for the industry as it moves through a changed world after the pandemic.
