The pharmacological management of pediatric patients is a critical yet complex aspect of healthcare, necessitating specialized approaches due to the unique physiological and developmental characteristics of children. Unlike adults, children exhibit distinct pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, requiring tailored dosing strategies and formulations. Challenges in pediatric pharmacology include the limited availability of ageappropriate drug formulations, the reliance on off-label and unlicensed drug use, and the ethical and practical difficulties of conducting pediatric clinical trials. Furthermore, accurate dosing based on weight, age, and developmental stage, as well as the potential for medication errors, adds to the complexity of managing pediatric patients. Advances in pharmacogenomics, personalized medicine, and innovative drug delivery systems offer promising solutions to these challenges. However, barriers such as regulatory hurdles, lack of standardized protocols, and insufficient research funding persist.
