Cyber-attacks pose significant threats to individuals, organizations, and governments, exploiting vulnerabilities to steal data, disrupt operations, and harm reputations. This paper examines common cyber-attacks, their impacts, and the strategies used to prevent them. Key preventive measures include advanced technologies like firewalls, encryption, and AI-driven threat detection, alongside organizational policies and employee training. Challenges such as evolving attack methods and zero-day vulnerabilities are explored, emphasizing the need for a multi-layered defence approach. By combining technology, policy, and awareness, the study highlights actionable steps to enhance cybersecurity in an increasingly digital world.
