A Micro controller based system for Capacitor measurement is described in this project. The Capacitor measurement system is constructed by designing LC series oscillator circuit excited into damped oscillations. The period of oscillation depends on the measuring elements Capacitor (C) & inductance (L). The Inductance (L) is defined and has standard value. Thus by measuring time period of oscillation, unknown value of Capacitor is calculated by using simple mathematical equation. The above system is implemented on the 8-bit micro controller 8031. The time period is measured by using internal timer of 8031,configured in appropriate mode. The system provides digital output in decimal indicating the Capacitor in mF. The proposed design has been verified experimentally.
