Title

A Real-Time Algorithmic Approach to Reduce EV Charging Delays

Abstract

The growing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) presents unique challenges, particularly in terms of efficient charging during long trips. This paper introduces an algorithm designed to optimize the selection of charging stations along a pre-planned route. The algorithm models the road network as a graph, where certain nodes represent charging stations, and the edges represent roads with weights based on real traffic times. By analyzing the current location of the vehicle and the planned route, the algorithm identifies charging stations along the way and calculates real-time information such as the number of cars waiting at each station. It then ranks and displays the top three charging stations with the least total time for both travel and charging. This approach demonstrates the potential for minimizing overall journey and charging delays, enhancing the user experience for EV drivers.
