The women play a crucial role in every field. Region to region the status of women is different because of opportunities, gender discrimination is not same in every community, traditions, attitudes and, also due to patriarchal nature of the society. Northeast India comprising eight states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim, presenting a unique tableau regarding the status of women. This region, characterized by its ethnic diversity and rich cultural tapestry, offers both progressive elements and persistent challenges in terms of gender equality. Understanding the socio-economic status of women in this region requires a multi-faceted approach that considers cultural practices, economic roles, educational attainment, health care access, and political participation. The implications of the study are to bring awareness about the condition of women of Northeast communities. In this paper both the positive and negative aspects are explained, which provides more comprehensive and clearer scenario about the overall status of women in the Northeast Indian regions.
