Title

AUTOMATIC RAIN AND FIELD CROP PROTECTION SYSTEM

Abstract

To develop an innovative, automated system to safeguard field crops from excessive rainfall, ensuring optimal growth conditions and reducing crop losses. Rainfall, while essential for agriculture, can lead to soil erosion, waterlogging, and crop damage when in excess. This system provides a proactive solution by automatically deploying protective covers over crops during heavy rain events. However, farmers have a lot of issues when it rains a lot because their crops are washed away or damaged. Therefore, this project is aimed to assist prevent this issue by shielding the crops from intense rains and repurposing the rainwater for other uses. In addition to being utilized for cooking, cleaning, and animal feeding, the saved water can be repurposed and sprayed back onto the field as needed. This device incorporates an automated roof that protects the entire field from intense rain by using data from soil moisture and rain sensors. Whenever there is rainfall the rain sensor gets activated. The water level in the soil is sensed by the soil moisture sensor. Whenever there is rain, the rain sensor is „ON‟ and when the water level in the soil is beyond the normal level then soil moisture sensor is „ON‟. If both the sensors are “ON‟ then this information is send to the controller. Then the controller indicates the DC motor to run which opens the roof automatically to close the field using a polythene sheet. If there is any problem in opening of the roof, then this is performed manually by the farmers.
