'A study to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programe on knowledge regarding oral cancer among adolescents in selected schools of ahmedabad city.'

Abstract

Study: Investigator conducted “ A study to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programe on knowledge regarding oral cancer among adolescents in selected schools of ahmedabad city. Background: Cancer is a large group of disease that can start in almost any organ or tissue of the body when abnormal cell grow uncontrollably, is beyond their usual boundaries to invade adjoining part of the body and/or spread to other organs. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the structured teaching programe regarding oral cancer in terms of knowledge among adolescents in the selected schools of ahmedabad city. Research Methodology: Quantitative research approach was used with pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test research design 60 samples were selected by non-probability convenience sampling technique and structured knowledge questionnaire was developed. Result: According to the findings, the mean post-test knowledge was significantly higher than the mean of pre-test knowledge score with mean difference of (4.32) the calculated “t” value (19.528) was greater than the tabulated value(2.0) at 0.05 level of significance therefore the null hypothesis H0 was rejected and research hypothesis H1 was accepted and it revealed that the structured teaching programe was effective in increase the knowledge of oral cancer among adolescents. The findings also revealed that a significant association has been found between knowledge of samples and educational level. Hence, the research hypothesis H2 was accepted. Conclusion: Structured teaching programe regarding oral cancer was effective in improving knowledge about oral cancer among adolescents.
