Title

A Comparative Clinical Study To Evaluate The Efficacy Of Shalmali Ghritha And Bold Baddha Rasa In Asrigdara (DUB)

Abstract

ABSTRACT Asrigdara is excessive, prolonged menstrual or intermenstrual bleeding. Asrigdara can clinically correlated with dysfunctional uterine bleeding.Dysfunction uterine bleeding is defined as a state of abnormal uterine bleeding without any clinically detectable organic, systemic, and iatrogenic cause (pelvic pathology, e.g. tumor, inflammation or pregnancy is excluded). The prevalence varies widely but an incidence of 10 percent amongst new patients attending the outpatient. The bleeding may be abnormal in frequency, amount, or duration or combination of any three. Ayurveda has described wide range of treatment options in the management of Asrigdara. Our Acharayas have mentioned that the treatment principle of Rakta Atisara,Rakta Pitta and Rakta Arsha can be adopted in treatment of Asrigdara. In Yoga Ratnakara Shalmali Ghrita is mentioned for treatment of Asrigdara.Hence an attempt is made to evaluate the effect of Shalmali Ghrita in Asrigdara. AIM • To evaluate the efficacy of Shalmali Ghrita in management of Asrigdara. OBJECTIVE • To compare haemostatic effect of Shalmali Ghrita and Bola Baddha rasa in management of Asrigdara. Methodology Minimum of 40 patients suffering from Asrigdara fulfilling the inclusion criteria were selected for the study. Group A- Was given Bola Baddha Rasa 250mg BD with warm water before food Group B- Was given Shalmali Ghritha 20ml BD with warm water DURATION OF TREATMENT For 2 consecutive menstrual cycles starting from 3rd day of menstruation till bleeding stops or maximum upto 8 days • Follow up- After treatment 3rd day and 11th day of next consecutive menstrual cycle. RESULTS Based on the observation there was no statistical significant difference between Shalmali Ghrita and Bola Baddha Rasa in management of Asrigdara CONCLUSION Shalmali Ghritha has Pitta Shamaka , Rakta Sangrahana and Dosha Pachana properties. It is is effective in the management of Asigdara. KEYWORDS- ABSTRACT Asrigdara is excessive, prolonged menstrual or intermenstrual bleeding.
