India's governance tradition, shaped by ancient philosophies and colonial legacies, has undergone a remarkable evolution. Independent India embraced democracy, facing challenges like poverty and inequality. Social welfare programs like MNREGA and PMJDY have aimed to address these issues. E-governance initiatives, such as Aadhaar and the Digital India program, have revolutionized service delivery, increased transparency, and enhanced citizen participation. E-governance has improved efficiency, reduced corruption, and increased access to services, particularly for marginalized communities. Key pillars of e-governance include citizen-centric services, transparency and accountability, information and communication technology infrastructure, and legal and regulatory frameworks. These initiatives have had a significant impact, improving service delivery, enhancing transparency, and increasing citizen engagement in governance.
