Title

Kesha Palitya: A Comprehensive Study of Samprapti from Samhita about Premature Greying of Hairs

Abstract

Kesha Palitya, commonly known as premature graying of hair, is a growing concern that affects individuals at an early age. In Ayurveda, this condition is primarily attributed to the aggravation of the Pitta Dosha, which leads to the deterioration of hair pigmentation. Factors such as improper diet, stress, and genetic predisposition further contribute to the condition. This paper aims to explore the pathogenesis of Kesha Palitya from an Ayurvedic perspective, focusing on the role of Pitta imbalance and its impact on hair health. The study also reviews various Ayurvedic interventions, including herbal remedies, dietary guidelines, and lifestyle modifications, to manage and prevent premature greying. Key herbs such as Amla (Emblica officinalis), Bhringraj (Eclipta alba), and Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) are evaluated for their efficacy in reversing or slowing down the greying process. Additionally, external therapies like scalp massages with medicated oils, Shirodhara, and Nasyam are discussed as part of a holistic treatment approach. This paper concludes that Ayurvedic principles offer a comprehensive and effective solution for managing Kesha Palitya by addressing the root cause-Dosha imbalance-rather than just the symptoms, thus providing long-term benefits in hair care and overall health.
