This study investigates the use of skin lightening products (SLP) among 200 participants, focusing on 182 active users.This study assessed the skin lightening practice and health symptoms among people of India. Self-administered questionnaire was distributed to 182 people of different age group among the people of India. The research reveals that 60.5% of active users are male, and 39.5% are female, with the majority aged 17-30 years. The data indicates that 56% use SLP daily, with facial cleansers being the most common product. A significant portion (82.97%) checks ingredients before purchasing. Satisfaction with SLP is high (84.62%), yet nearly half (48.90%) report skin problems, primarily acne. Most users (51.10%) believe medical consultation is necessary for severe skin issues. Awareness of SLP health effects is prevalent, although 40.66% are unaware of prohibited ingredients. The internet is the primary information source. Sociocultural factors influence the preference for lighter skin, impacting self-esteem and beauty standards. This study highlights the need for increased awareness of SLP's potential risks and safer usage practices.
