Title

Smart waste management

Abstract

The rapid urbanization and growing population in cities have led to significant challenges in waste management, including inefficient collection processes, overflowing bins, and increased environmental impact. Traditional garbage collection methods often result in unnecessary trips and delayed pickups, which elevate fuel consumption, traffic congestion, and operational costs. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a Smart Garbage Bin System integrated with Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The system utilizes sensors embedded in garbage bins to monitor fill levels, weight, temperature, and humidity in real-time, transmitting this data to a centralized dashboard. This enables municipal authorities to monitor waste status across the city and optimize collection routes and schedules. By leveraging data analytics and machine learning algorithms, the system predicts waste generation patterns and dynamically adjusts collection times to enhance efficiency. Furthermore, the integration of solar power ensures sustainability while reducing energy consumption.

Key Words

The Smart Garbage Bin System aims to address these inefficiencies through the integration of IoT (Internet of Things) technology. Each garbage bin is equipped with sensors to monitor parameters such as weight, fill level, temperature, and humidity. This data is sent in real-time to a central dashboard, which allows municipal authorities to monitor the status of bins across the town and make data-driven decisions on collection schedules.
