Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common condition that causes pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness in the hand and wrist. The carpal tunnel made of tendons , ligaments and bones .It happens when there is increased pressure in the median nerve. This nerve provides sensation to the thumb, index, and middle fingers, and to half of the ring finger etc. Non-surgical treatments like splinting, corticosteroids ,nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs , may provide some short-term relief from discomfort of carpal tunnel syndrome. Surgical decompression of carpal tunnel may required in severe cases. In ayurveda which can be correlated with manibandhasandhisthitha snayugata vata. Susruta has advised Agnikarma for disorders of snayu (ligaments and tendons), asthi (bone), sandhi (joints). The dahanopakaranas mentioned for the diseases of these locations are snigdha dravyas such as kshoudra, guda, sneha, sarjarasa, madhuchista etc. and Snigdhadravyas are considered to have more penetrating power than rooksha dravyas. So, here madhuchishta is taken.
