Title

Social Media Regulation: Navigating the Bright and Dark Side

Abstract

Social media has become an integral part of modern life, providing individuals with a platform for self-expression and transforming traditional power structures. It serves as a powerful marketing tool and an essential means of disseminating critical information, driving business success and societal well-being. In the evolving context of Business, social media plays a crucial role; however, its widespread accessibility has raised concerns regarding misinformation, cyberbullying, privacy breaches, and exploitation of vulnerable individuals. These challenges have prompted lawmakers to push for stricter regulations to mitigate potential harms. Balancing the benefits of social media—such as democratic discourse and self-expression—against its risks remains a significant challenge, particularly due to the lack of uniform global regulations. As policymakers navigate the complexities of social media governance, they increasingly rely on scientific research to inform their strategies. This evolving dynamic underscores the intricate relationship between freedom of expression, regulatory measures, and societal impact in the digital age.
