Biosensing, a multidisciplinary field at the intersection of biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering, has revolutionized the way we detect and analyse specific biomolecules. This technology capitalizes on the unique interactions between biological components and transducers to convert complex biological responses into quantifiable signals. For the detection of different biological compounds, enzyme based, antibody based, nucleic acid based, whole cell based, and nanoparticle-based biosensors have been developed. There are also electrochemical, optical, gravimetric and electronic biosensors that are being used for various applications across diverse sectors like healthcare, environmental monitoring, food safety, and biotechnology. All these biosensors can be categorized into label based and label free biosensors. Label free biosensing has gained significant attention in recent years due to its potential in real time and accurate detection of biomolecules.
