Title

Fluorine enriched Darsi Granite, Prakasam District Andhra Pradesh

Abstract

This study focuses on the geology and geochemistry of granites from Darsi, Prakasam District, Andhra Pradesh, India. Granites are pale to dark grey, coarse to very coarse (pegmatoidal), crude foliation with visible specks and veinlets of fluorite and pyrite, associated with syenites, calc-silicates, grano-diorites, dolerites, quartzites and schistose rocks. The Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh is one of the fluorine affected districts. The granites from Darsi area have analysed from 1020 ppm to 1800 ppm of fluorine. The granite samples were analysed by ICP-Chromatography and Ion Selective Electrode (ISE) techniques. The granites occurring within the Nellore Schist Belt also analysed anomalous content of fluorine.
