ABSTRACT Breast cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers in women and in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh alone it has been increasing at an alarming rate. There is a need to look for novel marker for its early diagnosis and proper treatment and those novel biomarkers should preferably be not only noninvasive but also cost effective for the evaluation of breast cancer. Hereditary pattern of breast cancer was also evaluated by drawing pedigree chart to trace family history of cancer. For the biomarker analysis, dermatoglyphic patterns in the form of ‘atd’ angle of both healthy subjects and breast cancer patients were calculated using standard method and breast cancer patients were found to have a wider ‘atd’ angle than that of healthy control. The mean ‘atd’ angle of Breast Cancer patients was found to be 43.3º and that of Healthy Control (100) was found to be 39 º.
