The words ‘Ayu’ (life) and ‘Veda’ combines to form ‘Ayurveda’. Ayurveda explain doshas, dhatus and malas to be the building blocks of body (दोषधातुमलमूलं हि शरीरम). Any disease is result of imbalance among three doshas namely vata, pitta and kapha (दूषयन्तीति दोषा). There are distinct properties of each dosha, on the basis of which they can easily be diagnosed in their imbalanced state. Also certain physical and psychological characteristics are explained in Ayurveda for their easy identification. An observation to these features may give a clue to the dominance of specific dosha, but there is need to develop more promising validated tools to get specified result.
