Abstraction The capacity of some substances, including medications, to result in congenital malformations or developmental abnormalities in a growing foetus is known as teratogenicity. Exposure to teratogenic substances during pregnancy can have serious and frequently permanent consequences. This study examines the teratogenic effects of a number of medications, such as retinoids, anticoagulants, antiepileptic medications, and several antibiotics. It draws attention to the ways in which these medications impede healthy foetal development, the dangers that arise at various stages of pregnancy, and the significance of dosage and timing. It also highlights how important it is for medical practitioners to carefully prescribe drugs during pregnancy and inform patients of any possible hazards. Knowing a drug's teratogenic potential can help us enhance pregnancy outcomes and lower the prevalence
