Title

Tailoring Of Optical Band Gap By Tauc Plot And Antimicrobial Efficacy Of Cu And Ni Doped Znfe₂O₄ Nanoparticles Against Various Pathogenic Strains

Abstract

This study aims to explore the antimicrobial properties against various pathogenic strains of varying Cu and Ni- doped ZnFe2O4 nanocrystalline concentrations, synthesized by the cost effective sol-gel citrate method, followed by the calcinations at 6500C. The stability of the synthesized nanopaticles increases with increase in doping concentration and prevents the agglomeration. The characterization of the synthesized pure and doped nanoparticles were conducted with the help of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), to confirm the crystalline size and chemical bonding. UV-visible spectroscopy was used to study the band gap energy and Tauc plot. The optical band gap energy was found to be 1.82eV while morphology and composition were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). To evaluate the antimicrobial properties of the synthesized nanoparticles, they were subjected against various human pathogens, including Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, K. pneumonia, E. faecalis, Candida albicans, and Trichophyton rubrum, via the disk diffusion method.
