Title

Influence of Integrated Nutrient Management on growth, yield and quality of Cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata)

Abstract

An investigation was carried out to study the “Influence of Integrated Nutrient Management on growth, yield and quality of Cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata)” planned to be carried out at Horticulture Research farm, Sardar Patel University, Balaghat (M.P.) during Rabi season of 2020-21. The experimental crop of taken for the investigation in cabbage. The experiment was laid out in a randomised block design with three replications. The treatments consisted of eleven combinations of different factorial concept input management practices viz., treatments 100 % RDF (Control) (T1), 75 % RDF + 25 % N through VC (T2), 75 % RDF + 25 % N through FYM (T3), 50 % RDF + 50 % N through VC (T4), 50 % RDF + 50 % N through FYM (T5), 100 % RDF + 25% N through VC (T6), 100 % RDF + 25% N through FYM (T7), 100 % RDF + 25% N through FYM + Azotobacter @ 2 kg ha-1+PSB @ 2 kg ha-1 (T8), 100 % RDF + 25% N through VC+ Azotobacter @ 2 kg ha-1+PSB @ 2 kg ha-1 (T9). The results revealed that vegetative characters such as plant height and spread were superior with the T2 : 75 % RDF + 25 % N through VC. Followed by treatment T1: 100 % RDF (Control). Length of unfolded leaves per plant, breadth of unfolded leaves per plant, root length, head height and head diameter were higher with the application of treatment T3: 75 % RDF + 25 % N through FYM whereas, number of loose leaves per plant was maximum under treatment T6: 50% RDF + 50% N through VC. Integrated nutrient management had significant effect on yield attributes and quality attributes of cabbage. With the application of 100 % RDF + 25% N through VC+ Azotobacter @ 2 kg ha-1+ PSB @ 2 kg ha-1 (T9) resulted in better yield and quality attributes in terms of highest TSS 100 % RDF + 25% N through VC+ Azotobacter @ 2 kg ha-1+ PSB @ 2 kg ha-1 (T9) To the economics, higher net returns (Rs 1882392.68) as well as gross return was recorded under the application of 100 % RDF + 25% N through VC+ Azotobacter @ 2 kg ha-1+PSB @ 2 kg ha-1 whereas, B:C ratio was obtained highest with the application of treatment T1: 100 % RDF. The total cost of cultivation was a maximum 47789.8 (Rs) with the application of treatment T5 50: % RDF + 50 % N through FYM.
