In many tropical and subtropical areas, guavas are grown as a common tropical fruit. Native to Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and northern South America, the common guava, Psidiumguajava, often known as lemon guava or apple guava, is a tiny tree in the Myrtle family (Myrtaceae).Other species in the genus Psidium, including the pineapple guava, Feijoasellowiana, and strawberry guava, are also referred to as guava.
