ABSTRACT This research examines the adoption of eco-friendly shopping practices in supermarkets and their contribution to sustainable development, with a focus on Coimbatore city. As environmental awareness grows, supermarkets play a vital role in shaping consumer behavior towards sustainable choices. The study investigates consumer preferences, the challenges faced in embracing eco-friendly products, and the impact of supermarket initiatives on sustainability. It explores how supermarkets can drive green marketing efforts and promote environmentally conscious shopping through eco-friendly offerings. Additionally, the paper addresses the issue of plastic waste and suggests the use of reusable shopping bags as a solution. The findings aim to provide insights for supermarkets to integrate sustainable practices, encouraging responsible consumption and supporting environmental goals in Coimbatore.
