Abstract : The application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) has gained significant attention in recent years due to its potential to enhance educational outcomes. AI technologies are being increasingly integrated into learning platforms, helping to deliver personalized learning experiences, automate administrative tasks, and improve student engagement and retention. However, the integration of AI in ODL also brings about certain challenges, including privacy concerns, ethical dilemmas, and the need for regulatory frameworks. This paper explores the applications and innovations of AI in ODL, evaluates the limitations of its integration, discusses its future scope, and suggests the necessity of regulations for its ethical and effective use in educational contexts.
