BACKGROUND: Hyperthyroidism happens when the thyroid gland makes too much of thyroid hormone, this condition is also said as over active thyroid. It also speeds up the body metabolism which gives conditions like loss of weight, tremors in the hands, rapid and irregular heartbeat. AIM AND OBJECTIVE: The elaborative modalities of treatment which is used has shown good improvement in the condition of hyperthyroidism by the Hamsapadadi kashayam from the third week of the complaint of the hyperactive thyroid gland. DISCUSSION: Hamsapadadi kashayam is the emerging medicine which acts wonders on the thyroid levels, it is also a thyroid gland regulator and also effective in the hyper and hypothyroidism. It has a very good effect on the symptoms of hyperthyroidism like nervousness, hyperactivity, sensitivity to the heat, anxiety and also the irritation. It also has the benefits of strengthening the muscles which weaken due to improper functioning of the thyroid gland and also induces better sleep. Moodswings which are the complaints of the patients are also minimized. CONCLUSION: The mode of action of the Hamsapadi kashayam and the panchakarma that is nasya with anu taila done for the patient act very precisely over the hyperthyroid levels and also the mood swings and the ill health of the patient was reversible within 2 weeks of consumption of the medicine.
