According to research, employability skills are a strong predictor of work performance. Improving teachers' employability can act as a stimulus to raise educational standards.Very few researchhas been conducted on teachers’ employability skills in India or in West Bengal. The present study, having a descriptive survey research design, was prepared to find out the employability skills of primary school teachers. Stratified random sampling technique was used to sample a total of one hundred primary school teachers in South 24 Parganas of West Bengal. The data was collected through “Questionnaire on Employability Skills of Teachers” (QEST) as developed by Professor M. Mukhopadhyay - the former director of ETMA in Gurgaon. Significant differences were found among certain employability skill dimensions of primary school teachers. Teachers’ Learning and Problem Solving Skills were found to be weak (29.75%, 26.86% respectively). Their low pedagogical competency is further manifested in their very poor use of Teamwork and ICT skill dimensions which were found to be 30.22% and 28.3% respectively.
