Title

Effectiveness of Concept cartoons in enhancing Achievement in Physical Science among 9th standard students

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to unveil the effective usage of Concept cartoons strategy in Physical Science instructional process, to the lime light. As many strategies, approaches are catching up in the streams of Physical Science education, Concept cartoons bring a new horizon in the Physical Science instructional Process. This paper aims to emphasize the benefits of teaching and learning Physical Science through the Concept cartoons. The study adopts purposive sampling technique, Pretest Posttest parallel group design for the experimentation. The sample comprised 60 students studying in 9th standard. 30 students were in the experimental group and 30 of them were in the control group. Arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test were used for data analysis. The findings of the study showed that the instruction with Concept cartoons in Physical Science is more effective than the traditional method. Students have active participation in the class room with an impressive increase in their achievement. Concept cartoons make topics visual, increase students’ interest, make lessons enjoyable, helps to develop curiosity and to overcome the misbelieves of students regarding the Physical Science topics.
